Guide
Lamistra helps you lay laminate and click vinyl planks in straight rows. Preview the layout and compare choices for end joints, offcut reuse and cutting waste.
From measurements to a plan
Enter the floor and plank dimensions, choose the laying direction and set the minimum piece lengths and joint distances. The app calculates a layout drawing, a cutting and laying table and row-by-row instructions. The summary shows how many planks you need and how material loss is made up.
Measure the floor from wall to wall and enter the expansion gap separately. The app accounts for the gap itself. Corner cutouts and rows cut narrower lengthways are also included.
Three laying methods
Traditional uses suitable offcuts from a row end to start a later row. You set the minimum joint distance between adjacent rows. This method calculates quickly, but can produce stair-step and repeated patterns.
Optimized also checks joint distances between rows with one or two intervening rows and makes regular repetitions less attractive. Each ending piece comes from a new plank; suitable offcuts from those planks are used as starting pieces.
Optimized with extra offcut reuse also uses suitable offcuts from starting planks as ending pieces. A fitting allowance leaves extra length so you can trim such an ending piece to fit during installation.
Compare the pattern and material use
A calm pattern and low cutting waste do not always go together. The model compares possible plans within your chosen constraints, retaining a selection of the best possibilities row by row. Calculating different variants shows what your choices mean.
Start with a built-in example or with Traditional to get familiar with the output. Then try one of the optimized methods. Save useful variants under their own names; this saves the inputs and settings. The app calculates and stores data locally on your device.
Measuring and laying
Always measure ending pieces on site, allowing for the expansion gap. The actual measured length takes priority over the calculated length. Follow the manufacturer's laying instructions and use the corresponding minimum distances and effective plank dimensions.
